Six ads that answer what the simulated buyers kept asking
Every concept below maps to a finding from the MiroFish run or the October audit. The photos are AI mockups to show the shot; the real ads need real rods, a real guide, and the owner's own phone footage. Copy is a starting draft.
What the research says works in 2026
Meta's own delivery now picks the audience from the creative. 70 to 80% of performance variance is the ad itself, not budget or audience settings.AppsFlyer State of Creative Optimization 2025, via billo.app, accessed 2026-10-13
UGC-style video wins cold prospecting; produced video wins for high-AOV items. A $450 rod from an unknown brand needs both: phone clips to earn attention, one clean product shot to justify the price.segwise.ai Meta creative strategy 2026; 27five.com, 300+ campaign dataset
Still the highest-ROAS format for direct response when the concept is strong. Zero production time. Good for retargeting people who already watched a video.segwise.ai; 27five.com
Hook rate (3-second views over impressions) of 25% is fine, 30% good, 40% elite. Open on the pain or the result, not the logo.Sovran, Vaizle hook-rate guides via segwise.ai
A fishing tackle brand went from 1.3x to 5.1x ROAS. The changes: cut Audience Network placement (15 to 20% of spend, near-zero purchases), keep only Facebook Feed, Instagram Feed and both Reels; video of the product in a real fishing setting converted 3 to 4x better than product-on-white.alphageekstech.com Pesca Innovations case study, accessed 2026-10-13
Frequency above 3.0 is the fatigue line. Ads left 3 to 4 weeks without a refresh see CPMs rise up to 29% and CTR fall up to 35%. Plan on 70% variations of winners, 20% new concepts, 10% wild.Pixel Panda Creative via segwise.ai; 27five.com
The six concepts

The scratched rod
Answers: the simulation's top stop condition was "I'm not ordering blind from a brand I've never heard of." The 90-day scratched-and-fished return was the single strongest converter in the run. Lead with it, show the scratches.
Fish it for 90 days. Then decide.
Love it or send it back scratched.
The trial is the review.
Shot note: a real used rod, real grip wear, in the boat. Not a clean product shot. Static because the image is the hook.

The phone clip
Answers: "Who are these people?" Buyers stalled on trust, not price. A founder on his own river, shot on a phone, is the cheapest credibility available. The research is unanimous that this format earns the first 3 seconds for an unknown brand.
"I build these in Boise. This is the 9-foot 5-weight. Four pieces, tube and sock, lifetime warranty. Fish it 90 days. If it's not yours, send it back."
Shot note: handheld, imperfect, no color grade. One clip per rod over a season gives nine ads. Hook is the river sound and the first cast, not a title card.

The spec sheet ad
Answers: the audit's top open item and the simulation's "stop condition": no weight, pieces, box contents or origin on the rod pages. Put every number in the ad itself. RodNerd_82 and Derek in the run would have stopped scrolling for this.
Everything you'd ask before buying, in one line. Numbers in the mock are placeholders; use the real ones.
Shot note: overhead, all four sections, tube, sock, the tag. Serve to people who watched 50%+ of the phone clip. Static, because it is a reference image people screenshot.

The honest comparison
Answers: "Why spend $200 more than a Clearwater?" and "Why trust you over Sage?" The run split cleanly: Clearwater is a price fight, Sage and Orvis are a trust fight. One ad can't win both, but naming the competitor and the real tradeoff earns respect from the spec skeptic.
Only claim what's verifiable on the competitor's own site. Warranty terms and fees are public. Blank modulus and action are not; leave those out unless Folklore has tested them side by side.
Shot note: both rods, tailgate, Idaho behind. The video version is a blind cast test, which the MiroFish report asked for by name.

The guide testimonial
Answers: two reviews across nine rods. The run's skeptics said they'd buy once "enough third-party evidence" existed. A guide saying it on camera, with a real turnaround number, is worth more than ten anonymous stars. The report asked specifically for "guide photos" and "expected repair turnaround beside the $50 fee."
Phone, river or boat, one take, no script. Say which rod, what broke, how long the repair took, and whether you'd buy another. 20 seconds. The number is the ad.
Needs: one real guide who has used the warranty. If nobody has yet, this ad waits.

The gift ad
Answers: Jess, the gift buyer in the run, didn't know what to pick and feared getting it wrong. The 90-day trial removes that fear. This is the one audience where the story copy on the site helps instead of getting in the way.
A "gift a rod" page: three questions (where do they fish, how often, do they own a rod), one recommendation, a gift-receipt swap path. Without that page the ad sends people to a grid of nine rods and loses them.
Timing: run November 15 to December 18 and the three weeks before Father's Day. Dark the rest of the year.
A first month, small
What to measure: hook rate, CTR, cost per add-to-cart, and the trial-return rate on ad-driven orders. Not ROAS in month one; a $450 considered purchase has a longer decision than a 30-day window shows.
